The President Ho Chi Minh Monument Area, situated at the Presidential Palace, holds a unique significance as the place where President Ho Chi Minh spent the longest period of his revolutionary life, from December 1954 to September 2, 1969, encompassing a crucial 15-year span. Throughout this time, Uncle Ho, alongside the Party Central Committee and the Government, articulated pivotal strategic guidelines and orchestrated strategies for the Vietnamese revolution. President Ho Chi Minh led the nation in the dual pursuit of building socialism in the North while simultaneously confronting US imperialism, striving for the liberation of the South, and aiming at gaining a country unification. His leadership actively contributed to global struggles for independence, nationhood, democracy, peace, and social progress.
Recognizing the historical significance of this period, on November 25, 1970, Secretariat of CPV central committee issued resolution No. 206/NQ-TW, establishing a Construction Department, which specialized in developing a comprehensive plan for the Ho Chi Minh Museum, aiming at ensuring the preservation of the museum, the memorial area, and the artifacts and souvenirs associated with President Ho Chi Minh at the Presidential Palace. Consequently, the area where Uncle Ho resided and worked during the final 15 years of his life attained the status of a significant national relic site. On May 19, 1975, the Relic Area was officially inaugurated, opening its doors to welcome visitors.
The Ho Chi Minh Relics Area, nestled within the Presidential Palace, spans an expansive 14.7 hectares and encompasses eight significant historical sites. This rich tapestry of history unfolds through over 1,000 meticulously curated documents and artifacts displayed in key locations such as House 54, the stilt house, House 67, and the Political Bureau meeting house. The lush green surroundings further enhance the experience, featuring a refreshing garden adorned with 1,271 trees representing 161 diverse species across 54 plant families. Notably, the area includes Uncle Ho's fish pond, covering 3,320 square meters and boasting a diverse reserve of nearly 5,000 kilograms of fish.
A poignant symbol within this historic landscape is President Ho Chi Minh's stilt house—a cherished emblem of his modest, unassuming lifestyle and unwavering dedication to the Fatherland and its people. The relics area provides a vivid and immersive journey into the life and legacy of a revered leader, set against the backdrop of a serene and picturesque environment.
